What you'll need
(please bring these to your first lesson):
  • : Vic Firth Single Sided Practice Pad

Vic Firth Single Sided Practice Pad
If you don't already own something to practice on, I suggest you purchase one of these. It has a gum-rubber surface, which aids in learning the bounce stroke. Also, it is quieter than practice pads with plastic heads.

  • : Vic Firth American Classic® 5AN -- nylon tip

Vic Firth American Classic® 5AN -- nylon tip
These sticks are medium-weight and with a nylon tip, you don't have to worry about the tip splintering or cracking, which often happens with wood tip sticks.

  • : Spiral Bound Single-Subject College Rule Notebook

Spiral Bound Single-Subject College Rule Notebook
This is what I use to write your lesson plan in. I recommend the 70 page notebook. Please make sure it is college-rule and not graph or blank paper.

  • : Twin Pocket Folder

    Twin Pocket Folder
You'll be given a variety of handouts over the course of your lessons, and I suggest you keep them in a pocket folder such as these. (Be advised - you only need one folder - the link is for a box of 25.)
